Turkmenistan plans to place an new tanker order with Russian shipbuilder Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, the Turkmenistan media reported citing the country’s government.
The contract value is not disclosed. The Russian shipyard had already built three tankers for Turkmenistan.
Nizhny Novgorod-based JSC Krasnoye Sormovo Plant (Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard) was founded in 2002. The shipbuilding company is part of MNP Group (Marine Oil & Gas Projects), which also manages Sormovskoye Engineering and Volga-Caspian Design Bureau. Kransoye Sormovo specializes in building cargo ships. Since December last year, United Shipbuilding Corp. has had management control over Krasnoye Sormovo through the acquisition of more than 90% of the firm’s shares.
